U.S. Supreme Court Appeals

If you have appealed your case to the highest court of your state, or to a federal Court of Appeals of your circuit, and have not obtained the relief you want, your final appellate opportunity is to present your case to the Supreme Court of the United States by filing a Petition for Writ of Certiorari. This is the process by which you ask the highest court in the land to review your case on the merits. Although only a very small percentage of cases are accepted for review on the merits, depending on the issues in your case, it may be possible to frame your case in a way that presents a legal issue that the Court may want to address. Also, keep in mind that the timeline for appeal, in most circumstances, is ninety days from the decision date in the state Supreme Court or federal Court of Appeals. Call Attorney Jeremy B. Cooper to discuss whether it makes sense to pursue a writ of certiorari from the Supreme Court of the United States.
